WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

What I love about this book is how the author shared her feelings, needs and concerns as a caregiver to her mother. Patricia McClure story of caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease informs us that this disease is life changing, for both those who are diagnosed and those close to them. The author takes you with her as she goes through a mental, emotional and physical journey....I highly recommend this book!

SHERELL

Compelling, heart felt book depicting the impact of dysfunctional family dynamics and the emotional, physical and psychological damages of Alzheimer's. Great story, tear jerking, but very informative of what to look out for as your parents and love ones start to age.

JANENE

This book will enlighten any reader with a desire to learn about how one's family watched, identified and dealt with the stages of Alzheimer’s as it ravaged and eventually consumed Pearl. Patricia provides a courageous and emotional account of the turmoil and heartache the sufferer’s loved ones helplessly endured but only through faith coupled with a strong spiritual background. A very engaging and thought provoking work that I will read again and again. Thank you Patricia M. McClure for your willingness to share something so personal. Kudos!

WOW! The author drew me into her world. Her truth. Her experiences. Her raw emotions. The narrative writing between the book title and bibliography is beautifully penned lending hope, encouragement, understanding, healing, and support to caregivers. Losing a Hero to Alzheimer’s: The Story of Pearl is delicately balanced providing keen insight into this awful disease and the corresponding impact it can have upon the family emotionally, relationally and physically.

This true and compelling story filled my heart. It was electrifying, yet heart warming. It made me cry, yet it gave me great insight on this horrific disease and the many challenges a family and caregiver must face. The author was very candid with her story and appeared to have left no stone unturned. I was richly blessed by this book and left well informed. She showed how the power of God and her faith would help her through what seemed to be the worst time of her life. I would recommend as a great read for all and an excellent encouragement for anyone who's family has fell victim to this life changing and life challenging experience. I personally thank the author for sharing her story with the intent to bless others. My blessing was well received.

MUST READ. Most practical, helpful, easy to read advice on Alzheimer's I've ever read. I love the way this author is honest about how her mother's behavior as an Alzheimer's sufferer made her feel, and how she dealt with it by keeping first things first and remembering what was most important. It takes a special commitment to maintain the dignity of your family member while they suffer with this disease! I don't think most people consider that. She really gets it. Not only does she provide insight from a personal level, she is also a professional, so this book is a win win. This book does not disappoint.
